what a diabetic patient can eat

Do eat
  • High fiber carbs
  • Omega 3
  • Omega 6
  • Artificial Sweetners

Do NOT eat
  • High fat food
  • Simple carbohydrates
  • High Sodium food
  • Alcohol
Here is the diabetic food pyramid designed by American diabetes association and American dietetic association. You can consume more quantity of items which resides in the bottom of the pyramid and less or avoid as you move up the pyramid.

Tips (Nutrients Label)

  • Look for total carbohydrates not just sugar
  • Look for the total high fiber. If more than 5 grams of  fiber, half of the fiber grams can be subtracted from carbohydrates.
  • Sugar free does not mean carbohydrate free. Total carbohydrate contributes to the body glucose.
